Counselling

Deciding to go for counselling is a big decision - particularly if you are feeling vulnerable, hurt or in crisis as it challenges you to look candidly at yourself, the "good bits" and the "not so good bits".  Although this can be uncomfortable sometimes, you will feel a sense of being more "in touch" with who you are and this allows you to feel more in control of yourself and your life.

Your problem may be a long-standing one or your present situation has arisen because of a sudden and critical change in your circumstances.

The most common problems are: addictions, anxiety, bereavement and loss, chronic illness, debts and money worries, depression, eating disorders, family, marriage and partnership problems, managing stress, parenting problems, physical, emotional and sexual abuse, redundancy or onset of a terminal illness.

If you are thinking about seeking counselling, whatever your reasons and needs, I can offer my support to help you succeed in making a better adjustment between yourself and your present situation and to assist you to make the necessary changes in your life that will enable you to live a more satisfying life.  I do not provide answers to your problems but I can help you in your search as you explore your own resources and recognise and develop opportunities in your own life.

I practise an integrated mix of theories that recognises and values your experience but at the same time challenges you to accept responsibility for your own life and to trust your inner resources.

You can expect a safe, confidential environment where you will experience sincerity, acceptance and empathy.
